Hi Everyone:

It's been a couple of days since we have entered our adventure as we have been very busy.  On arriving in Stockholm we rented a car and after a brief drive around Stockholm (Oscar handled the twisted streets so well) we headed to Karlsted to stay and visit with Diane's friend Margareta (and Stefan).  Again we were very lucky to have such wonderful hosts.  We spent a couple of days touring around (including a stop at Ikea to look around and of course Diane and I found something to buy).  We also stopped for a bite to eat - those wonderful meatballs with lingon berry sauce.  We had a tour on the sites of Karlsted including the Metso site.  Oscar and Diane's work associate, Anders lived a few kms. out of Karlsted on a lake where we visited him and were lucky enough to get a ride in his boat to see the sites there. Oscar and Diane got to reminisce about Metso happenings, and Shirley got to learn about paper machines, much more than she ever thought she would.
Something we have noticed in some of the cities or towns we have visited is on the bridges over rivers they have planters filled with flowers which really dress up the towns.  There are also large planters around the city centers filled with various flowers- very pretty.    While we were visiting in Finland with the families in Yttermark we were told that a sister Marianne, who lives in Linghem, asked if we would come and visit.   We were delighted with this invitation and on leaving Karlstad travelled to their town and were again given a warm welcome. Marianne prepared a lovely meal of Reindeer, which Shirley tried for the first time, and to her surprise she enjoyed very much.   We went on a short tour around their town and visited the local church - again an awesome structure (even larger than the cathedral in Turku - the churches just keep getting larger). We were lucky to be there when an organist was practicing for a concert that evening.
Today, we will be touring an Aircraft museum, before we head off to Stockholm, for more exploring of new sites.
