The train ride was interesting. Japanese people are so polite. For example whenever a cleaner cleans a toilet, they come out after and bow, when the ticket checker goes into each carriage they bow, then also bow every time they check a persons ticket. They have a food trolley, and because the person serving is too busy to bow, they have someone following the trolley to bow on their behalf (or so it would seem). People bow at you coming on, and off the train, into and out of the ticket barriers, and through the entrance/exit gates. I feel as though I should bow back every time out of politeness, but gee, I'm starting to feel like one of those bobbing duck things! And that's just a train journey, you can imagine the rest!

After that, normal stuff, although I must admit I have gotten rather lazy with any sort of planning these days. I sat on my bag in the station, looked in my guide book, picked the nearest hostel and headed there. Luckily it was good and had space.

That afternoon just had a stroll around the local area, markets and the like, then met a traveler in my hostel on the roof and we went for dinner - Japanese BBQ. Where we ate heart, liver, gizzards, duck, chicken, quails eggs, bacon, and a lot of other things.. Yum.

The next day we went sightseeing, we saw the A-bomb dome, which was an exhibition hall where the atomic bomb was dropped above, one of the only remaining standing buildings it was kept as a reminder of what happened. We then went around the peace memorial park, to the remembrance hall and the museum. Heads sufficiently filled with haunting photos, and horrific facts, we decided to lighten the mood with green tea ice cream, in a 5* green tea shop (yes, they exist)

We then spent the afternoon wandering back through various alleyways looking at shops, chilling out in our hostel, before I had to jump on the night bus to my next location!
