More chook bus frequent flier points and homestays in small towns. After countless bus changes I have finally made it to Phu Kradung National Park. Then another 3 hour uphill slog in the heat and I made the 1300m mountain top area. The sunset from a remote cliff top that evening was spectacular. Hired a small tent and blanket, and the 8 deg night was quite bearable, other then the hard ground. Times like these I really miss my camping down-matt.

The sunrise the next morning was quite nice, but not quite as good as the colours of the sunset the previous evening.

After a couple of days walking the park and enjoying the temperate elevated climate, it was time to move on. Bus to Loei and then another to Chiang Khan on the northern border between Thailand and Laos.

I'm currently sitting on the upper deck of the guesthouse overlooking the mighty Mekong. After weeks of running around, it actually feels good to just sit, chill and watch the river flow on its way to the delta in southern Vietnam.

I have finally arrived. I think I'm staying here for a little while...
