I was in my elements again today. It' been too long since I jumped on a bike, 12 months to be exact. The feeling of wind on your face, the flimsy helmet somehow managing to stay on my head and the constant traffic somehow mearging smoothly without anyone getting killed. I know back home there would be dead bodies everywhere followed by a media feeding frenzy.

Visited the Phanom Rung Khamer temple, considered to be the best in Thailand. Great place, nicely preserved and located on top of an old volcano. Needless to say, the views were great. Rode out to two nearby temples and then got intentionally lost amongst the rough tracks of the local countryside.

You know a "white" person is not commonly seen around here when they yell out and wave, or want to have a pictue taken with you...

The one thing that always stands out about people from these areas is how happy they area regardless of how tough thier lives are. Perhaps there is salvation in not knowing any better.

Towards the end of the day, I arrived at an old buddist temple on top of a hill. A monk started trying to talk to me, except he spoke no English and I spoke no Thai. I understood that he wanted to show me a shortcut back to town, because he was going to a nearby temple. Two hours later of up/down bush bashing we arrived at the second temple. When you are in the middle of nowhere, and the monk asks "...OK?...", what the hell do you say?!

Anyway, we walked back in the dark and eventually I left and rode back into town. At least the front headlight worked, because nothing else did.

Time to worry about something more important, like what's for breakfast?...
