My friend Tera managed to get a couple of days off from work, so after our sleep in we packed the car and headed off down the coast along Highway 1 towards Monterey.
It was a cool day in Northern California, but we had a nice drive and dropped in at Harley Farms Goat Dairy to sample and then purchase some amazing goats cheese (yum!), and also visited the Pigeon Point Lighthouse for a look around. It was very windy at the Lighthouse, and judging by the trees in the area, that is not an uncommon state of affairs for the area.

On making it to the Monterey Peninsula, we took a brief drive along the waterfront of Pacific Grove, even briefly braving the weather to step outside the car and take in the view along the coast.

Tera, her mum (Carol) and I then headed out for dinner that evening to a scrumptious Italian restaurant where the food smelled and tasted great! Tera had a blue cheese gnocchi, while I had a wonderful creamy ravioli. A glass of wine over here seemed more like 2 standard drinks than 1, and when Tera queried her Mum's slightly less generous fill of wine, the Italian waiter fixed it in a jiffy so that she had almost 3 standard drinks!! Lucky she wasn't need to drive. Meanwhile Tera enjoyed a beer. The meal was a delightful end to a pretty laid back day.
Although, the day wasn't quite over... before retiring for the evening, we watched a tape of the final show of season 4 of Gray's Anatomy (so cool that they both watch this too!). We are way behind in Australia, but they updated me on the new characters and what had recently been happening. Not surprisingly, the season has ended on a cliff-hanger, with the potential for the loss of 2 of our favourite characters (Have I lost some people with this little paragraph? Sorry!).
