The whole weekend was pretty low key for us. One of my friends would be leaving to go home for Christmas on Saturday so Friday was a sort of a last night out together--for a while at least. Some people are very lucky to be able to go home for Christmas and see family, but I think I am ok with having one warm Christmas in my life. I am actually sort of looking forward to this idea of a "Christmas Bar-B-Q." Anyway, on Saturday we all worked a 12 hour event at our catering job, which was pretty awesome to get some good hours in.

On Sunday we relaxed for most of the day. I usually take some time on Sunday mornings to do my own thing and wake up early while everyone else is sleeping. We went out to eat in Wellington for the second time ever on Sunday night. Liz wanted mexican (surprise surprise), so we went to The Flying Burrito Bros. for a meal. It was nice to go out, get chips and salsa, and have an evening out with what we call our "family". The food tasted really good, but we still all agreed that we love how Mexican food tastes at home ten times better. It was a pretty expensive meal but it felt good to not have to cook for one night. After that, we rented a movie and hung out for the rest of the night.

We got up the next morning and shopped around Wellington. Mari really wanted to find a santa suit for our staff Christmas party, which would be held later that evening. We were going as Santa and his Three Reindeer. Mari of course would be Santa, Danny was Vixen, I was Prancer, and Liz was Blitzen. We thought the names fit us quite well. Mari had troubles finding a Santa suit, but all in all, our costumes turned out fine. We actually pulled it off quite well I think.

In the evening, we went to a movie premiere for the Lovely Bones, which was being held in Wellington at the Embassy Theater. We were really excited and hoping to see Mark Wahlberg, but it turns out he didn't show up and the only famous person we actually knew the name of was Susan Sarandon. she looked pretty good up close I thought for being how old she is. She actually showed up to the premiere wearing no shoes (which is a Wellington trademark for some reason). We see a lot of people barefoot in this city, which I think is gross considering all the pigeons and stuff. I think it has something to do with the artsiness/earthiness of people here. Anyway, we also saw the main girl character who gets killed in the film, but none of us knew that actress's name. After about an hour of waiting to see famous people at a real movie premiere, we got out of the busy downtown and came home to change into our reindeer/santa outfits.

Our Christmas party was really fun. After about an hour of Mari playing Christmas music for everyone (and lots of complaints about it from our co-workers), she got kicked out of the DJ chair --much to her dismay-- and everyone else started taking over playing music from their home country. It was quite an interesting variety of music. Many of our friends from our catering job will be heading home now so the party was kind of a last harrah for all of us to be together until the new year.

We will be working quite a bit the rest of this week so I assume we won't have tons of down but I am hoping to do a little Christmas shopping around Wellington since we leave for Gisbourne in about a week.
