After checking out of the Hotel in Sao Paulo we said goodbye to more friends who showed up the next day and at mid-day we headed to the airport to catch a flight to Porto Alegre.  The ususal movement ensued as we loaded (2) vans, one with AC and one without for the ride out.  We drove thru Sao Paulo on a busty Saturday when the city was really alive with its citizens and by coincidence it was "International Womens Day".  This was given great significance in Brazil where as of late they've had some women's rights issues.  We chilled at the airport for our checkin, had some food and then the rains came in a flash and pounded the city.  It was torrential rain, scary given we were flying but beautiful nonetheless.

We had a very uneventful flight into Porto Alegre, gathered the bags and headed to our hotel which was near the airport and really nice; a buisness hotel that was full of travellers and quite lively.  I wanted to show my appreciation to the band and crew for being invited on this wonderful trip so I asked everyone to join me for dinner at a local resturant that Pablo arranged, and we set off for a great night just hanging out.  The ride was great because we drove thru the redlight district of the city where all the "ladies" were out working and the streets were hot!!!!  Several of the ladies we saw were unigue in the sense that they should have been playing football; Brazil is famous for its transgender lasdies of the night and it was quite a sight...I would suggest if ever in a close situation that you better know what your looking for or you may get surprised!!!

We arrived at the Churrasco which is directly across the street form the stadium where Gremio of the Brazilan football league play their games.  It should be noted that Porto Algre is the home Ronaldinho<
These Churrascos are the places where they bring loads of meat and feed you until you are ready to collapse.  We were very sure to find a palce that also served fish and verggies for our vegitarian friends.  We had an absolute great time, laughing, eating drinking and just relaxing after a long day of travel.

After dinner we rode across town to check a singer who is friends with D the sound man but despite the celebrity of Steel Pulse we were turned away at the door because most of us had shorts on.  A good thing given we were all stuffed and ready for the rack.  The ride back was great as we had a full on session about Brittany Spears, Micheal Jackson and Prince.  We tried to figure out how we good get a loan to buy Neverland and rent it back to Mike who in turn could lease a corner to Brittany who could have Prince over for 80's style sex.  Its an ambitous plan worthy of further discussion.
After a good nights sleep, a dip in the pool, and a good breakfast we headed to the venue for soundcheck and to settle into the place for that nights show.  We met Fernanda who was an awesome, very intelligent, and not to mention beautiful young lady who was promoting the show.  She really made us all feel at home and was very hospitable.  Soundcheck went great; the venue was awesome, sorta like a House of Blues connected to a high end shopping mall.  Fernanda provided us some great hats that one of the sponsors donated and I promised for the rest of the trip I would wear my hat...check the photos.

A dj warmed it up and after Pulse again played to a very happy audience that knew all the words and sang along and rode the rythem until the shows end. I must confess that during this show I stole away to the balcony, found a dark corner and took a nap.  I had to...I was done and needed my energy to hand out those after show invites to meet the crew. We met some great fans after this show.....this crowd ranked high on fun, energy and looks.  It was all good.  Fernanda was concerned as the dressing room filled up but Pablo and I assured her we had it under control.
Good times, friends were made and Brazil's stock further rose!!!!

Headed back to the hotel where we hung in the lobby bar and as the night passed into the day the local news on its late broadcast featured the Steel Pulse concert on its segment, at which point several people in the bar did double takes.  Wicked day!!!
