Where I stayed
For those reading in a hurry, I can offer a short summary of our first week at sea:
10am - wake up, stretch, get out of bed, pull back curtains, inhale sea air and morning sunshine....a moment of silence for those back home waking up to an alarm...smile smugly :) lol
11am - Breakfast - tough decisions to be made: pancakes or omlette? cereal or toast? fresh pastries or fruit? .....all of the above!
12pm - Finish eating, time for excercise
(For variety, this routine was alternated with...
12pm - Walk back to cabin, climb back into freshly-made bed, watch a new-release free to air movie on our flat screen, HD tv and snuggle into plumped-up pillows. Or, recling on our baclony sunloungers with a good book and a cold drink).
1pm - Find a comfortable sun lounge, day bed or double-size hammock, sprawl out and soak up sun, read or doze.
2pm - Wait for old, fat, hairy or sweating people to get out of hot tub....jump in hot tub and behave amourously (which prevented the return of afore-mentioned old, fat, hairy and sweaty people...)
2.30pm - spa prunes
3pm - nana nap time, long walk back to cabin (via the lunch buffet for a quick snack of pizza, fajitas, curry, ice-cream or chips), stash choc-chip cookies in pocket for afternoon tea in the cabin
4-5pm - relax in cabin, gaze at the hypnotic wake of the ship, fall asleep in the afternoon sun.
6pm - Barb starts dressing for the evening .
6.50pm - Mark starts dressing for the evening
7pm - leave cabin
7pm-7.15pm - take photo's (of Barb, lol)
7.30-8.30 - enjoy one of the spectacular stage productions, have a drink at the Martini Bar, dance in the grand foyer, watch a band, wander the decks and soak up the elegant atmosphere.
8.30-10.30 - Dinner. Greeted at the door by the friendly Maitre'de who seems genuinely pleased to note our arrival. Escorted to our luxuriously appointed table and waited on hand and foot by charming, clever, attentive staff who make you feel like a true 'Celebrity'. Can't decide what main or dessert to choose?
'No matter, Mr Mark, I will bring you the lot' (Oh, how we miss you Edwin and Manino!!!)
10.30-11.30 - Take in a late music or comedy show, enjoy a civilised port at the sophisticated piano bar, marvel in awe at the 'oldies' capacity to slam down cocktails
11.30 – until as long as we could stand up – Hit the dance floor at Quasar nightclub. Fling hair around wildly, shake booty, passionately belt-out lyrics to Sexy B*!@# and Black-eyed Peas songs (you get the picture....if you haven’t already seen the picture, lol).
Sometime after midnight – stagger back to cabin, giggle like naughty teenagers out past curfew, collapse on freshly-made (yes again) bed, eat chocolate that’s been left on pillow (Barb).
Drift into a deep, peaceful sleep as the ship sways back and forth like a gigantic rocking cradle.
Have very sweet, happy dreams :)
This is just a taste of our life onboard the Equinox, we also enjoyed the glass blowing show, (sort of) friendly games of bacci (fancy name for lawn bowls) on the real grass lawn Celebrity is proud of, sipped perfect cappuccinos in the sumptuous cafe and even made it to the fully-equipped, state of the art gymnasium once or twice
For the highly motivated or those seeking enlightenment (not us, in either case) there was a comprehensive, non-stop program of life enriching classes and activities.
If we had wanted to, we could have learned how to cook sushi, dance the foxtrot or use Adobe Photoshop.
In the end though, we were only interested in having fun, and there was plenty of time for that :)
