Before long we were on our way again finally heading southeast towards the Loire Valley. Our map found us near Chateaubriand around game time for the women’s final so we headed into town, saw yet another castle, and watched Li Na win the first set before we hit the road again. (I was thrilled later to learn that she won as I am now a big fan of the Chinese as many were so kind and generous to us while travelling in China.) After a long drive through many small charming villages we finally arrived at lovely Amboise. Not knowing anything about France, I saw the name of the town on a blog written about the Loire Valley so chose it for our night’s destination not wanting to be stranded again without a place to stay. It turned out to be a lovely place with a chateau (no surprise in France) and Clos Luce, Leonardo de Vinci’s home where he died in 1519.
