I purchased my Brazil x Chile R16 Match ticket and organized my trip to Johannesburg with the help of my friend Caio Fonseca. Caio is the brother of my childhood friend Marcos. It’s a tradition of the Fonseca family to go each and every World Cup. Most recently, friends of Caio joined the Fonseca family. This meant I was not only going to watch a match, but watch a match with an exciting group of over 20 Brazilians. Furthermore, it was my birthday and, last but not least, Brazil played really well and beat Chile 3 x 0. It couldn’t have been better.

It was quite fun to watch a Brazilian match with the Fonseca family and the friends of Caio. They really prepared themselves for the World Cup. They had the funkiest costumes and they were some of the most enthusiastic Brazilian supporters at Ellis Park. People would stop them to take pictures and television channels to interview them. Images of them have probably traveled around the world. Highlights for Balminha and his mask and Caprichas and his Super-Hexa costume. Unfortunately, Caprichas and Galotti were over-enthusiastic and disturbed some of the people at Ellis Park. As a result, they were sent off from Ellis Park by the police in the beginning of the 2nd half.

The Brazilians dominated the match inside and outside of the field. It was a beautiful exhibition of quality soccer that culminated in a win to Brazil by a 3 goal difference. Outside of the field, the Brazilian supporters showed great enthusiasm. Ellis Park was green and yellow.

My hope of having a Brazil x Argentina Final Match still survives. What a wonderful birthday evening.
