You, dear readers, are being spoiled.  How many pieces of complete drivel have I cast before you today?  Four?  Five?  I amin a smart one. told there is a tribe somewhere in the world (Kalahari bushmen perhaps?) whose counting system runs to "one, two, many".  Well, on that principle we are on "many now" and there may even be more to come as a busload of tourists have just descended on the place and headed almost immediately for the restaurant so it may be prudent to give that one a swerve for a while.  I know how erratic some Sri Lankan kitchens can be.  Actually you get served a lot quicker in some little "dive" place than you do in a "fancy place.

On the next day (20th), nothing much happened.  I sat about doing my computer stuff all day.  Yes, we are back to that old argument, do you travel or do you write about it or where do you balance it in the middle?  Well, I spent most of the day writing.  You, dear readers, chide me when I don't write so don't give me grief now for sitting in a hotel room that day composing.

I did go out in the evening to the excellent Dinemore that I have mentioned before and did something I would never do in UK, I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala.  For the more culinarily minded of you, this dish does not belong on the "Indian" (in UK a Northen Indian one prepared and served by Bangladeshis) menu and was invented in my country in the 1960's.  There is debate as to whether it was Glasgow or Birmingham but it matters not, it is not a traditional Asian dish despite what some creative menus would like to tell you.  Same with balti which I believe hails from the very exotic corner of the Empire called Birmingham! .

OK, be that as it may, I just fancied it although I am undoubtedly a curry snob and I have to say it was bloody lovely when it eventually arrived.  The concept of fast food has not travelled as far as Sri Lanhka yet.  Here endeth the lesson.

I am going to let this post suffice for today as I really should do some more VT stuff, my notices are piling up like mad.  I just thought I would make you jealous with the delicious meal I had for about 2!

I really admire you, spending so much time writing in such detail. This is something I cannot do when I am out travelling unfortunately. Sometime because of lack of time, other times because I want to get advantage of the trip and I am out always involved with something....so by the time I return I am already exhausted.
It is very disappointing that you download only 5 photos, while you can download hundreds on each entry and I cannot understand Fergy what keeps you from doing it! Each entry would be more interesting with photos on.

Hi. I am a blogger on this site. Generally it is pretty good, but sadly you are restricted to only 5 photos per entry rather than a choice that Ferg is making.

Suzzii do you mean you are a blogger here and you are also allowed to post just 5 photos only? If you check my blog you will see thousands of photos out there. I cannot understand this. ...let me know plse. (Or perhaps I did not get what you write above)

suzii on

Yes. I'm only allowed 5 photos per post. I have used other blogging sites that let you use more pictures, but moved to this one as I can write off line and then upload easily. If you are using travelpod and can add lots of pictures that is brilliant.

Suzii I just tried once again and I downloaded 25. Could it be probably because you are using an iPad? When I am out and I have along my laptop I can upload as many as I wish. Check my blogs if you wish: http://blog.travelpod.com/members/greekcypriot

Hi Suzil

I dont know why you are having a limit of 5 photos on this website, I have posted lots on my entries, maybe you are trying to post a 10-20 megapixel photo here, that will take a long time and really is a waste of time, a smaller megapixel photo will load up faster and you wont notice any difference in quality

I havent been able to find any of your entries here, are you sure you are a member here ?

suzii on

THanks for looking into this Derek. Yes - I am a member here, and think it is an excellent site. The reason you haven't found me though is that I write my blog under my travelling persona - different emails / different names for different purposes. Next time I travel and use the site I'll get in touch if I have a problem with loading photos. Many thanks again

Apologies Derek - I thought initially that you worked for Travel Pod. Thanks for the advice
