What to say about Jeri - well everyone said you stay longer than intended and this was definately the case.  My planned 4-5 days turned into 12 days.
Idylic spot on the Brazilian coastal curve meant that this is the only place on the South American east coast where you can see the sun set over the ocean.  Even better view if you climb up the Jeri dune and then run or toll down it after.
My stay in pousada por de sol made sure I got more spanish practice than portuguese and as usual you meet some interesting characters, some of which make you really glad you are travelling alone and make you miss your dog even more and some who will stay in your mind forever long after the initial email exchange dies down.
As Jeri is one of the best places in the world to kitesurf and windsurf, I obviously made sure I got some of it in, though most of my time and budget was spent on being dragged head first throught the Atlantic ocean towards Tutjuba!  As I wasn´t very impressed with my school due to paying a bargained rate rather than that all the European tourists pay, I was just about to give up when I managed to plain more than 20m!  Such a great feeling (and speed) that I´m hooked again.
Christmas eve and I still had no feeling for Christmas, felt like being in Vanrhynsdorp - deserted place with no fan fare.  In an attempt to make myself feel Christmas I went and bought a few small gifts - mostly for me ;) !  We had a pousada dinner of not much - well not if you don´t like camerão... but the desert was AWESOME.  Passionfruit - my favourite.  The music varied from german punk to Grease.. (don´t ask - German/Swiss...) and when I was about to fall asleep at 12pm we headed for the Capoeiera show at Sky bar.  Totally amazing!  They acted out some folklore about the farmers and so on... well thats the part I got, could not quite understand what the very sexy dancing woman had to do with it all, because after all the men came into the ring and started doing these amazing jumps and fights.  This display seemed to get everyone in the mood for Forro.  Type of music very popular in the Northeast which is similar to Cajun and involves Arican drum with accordion.  Quite catchy actually - I like it, pity I was born without any rythm and compared to the locals, us gringos really stood out.  Made worse by one of the Swiss/French (whats the difference?) asking me to dance.  Grrr, why do I have to be so kindhearted?! Grrr this meant that now none of the locals would ask me after!
On Christmas day I got the best present ever - perfect conditions, kitesurfing for 3hours without being dragged through the water once, riding upwind and playing in the surf until it got too big.  My attempt at my firts intentional jump did end with a belly slapped fall however..
It was hard to leave Jeri on the 26th.  It was so convenient to just relax, be on holiday, not worry about getting anywhere or your stuff or even speak Portuguese.  Basically just a lazy holiday consisting of eating, sleeping and kitesurfing.  I challenge anyone to stay in Jeri for more than 3 days and not forget about time.
