We could have stayed at Gatti’s for days because they made us feel so welcome (but I’m not sure how THEY would feel about that!) They are lovely people and we hope to see them again one day and repay their kindness.

After our goodbyes we drove from Perth to Hyden (Wave Rock) which is about 360kms. The countryside is green with gum trees and rolling hills of crops mainly wheat. When we got to Hyden we stopped for lunch and a good look of Wave Rock. It was definitely in my Top 10 Rock formations. It was a truly great wave that I thought was amazing! We couldn’t resist the surfing pose at the bottom of it (as 99.99999% of tourists do).I tried really hard to get the perfect
picture with it but I couldn’t which was frustrating. We did a short walk over
the top of the wave but there wasn’t a lot to see. The wave was also really big
something that I didn’t expect as Mum had talked down its size. The water
patterns making different colours in the wave were also cool.

We were going to stay in Lake King but when we got there we kept going to Ravensthorpe – mainly because we were all really enjoying this audio book “Scarecrow”. We stayed at a free camp a little out of town and while we set up Will went off in search of wood (including getting a
couple of great logs from the neighbours) which we used for a lovely camp fire.
The stars were nearly as good as Porepunkah and we loved watching the gumtrees
light up with the headlights from passing cars and trucks.
