So Felix and I woke up on the couch in Tanja’s flat again, a little hungover, just like so many times before back in winter when we were only a few short weeks into our adventure. How time has flown - and all the things we have seen and done since then! Sometime after midday, Daniel, Tanja, Felix and I, after a detour to Daniel’s recording studio to open the door for a friend to get their bass amp out, made it to the supermarket and bought a mass of supplies for cooking lunch. At home, I don’t know what the boys did but Tanja and I went into a cooking frenzy - witzwurst, Pretzels and chicken soup where all on the go.
After a hearty four o’clock breakfast (yes breakfast), Felix did more mechanical Ural research while Daniel, Tanja and I made a veggie garden, which I don’t think I ever took a picture of sadly. After two or three hours of digging, carrying edging rocks, carful German precision to lay the edging stones all level and straight and some extra compost, we were ready to plant. In went a cherry tomato, a mixture of salads, eggplants, zucchinis and radishes
Another session at Zoigl was an option for the evening activity, but after Friday night and general tiredness for both of us, we ended up having a quite night in, watching the soccer, a few friends for dinner and a beer and some planning for life back in melbourne. Sunday was another big sleep-in day. In the afternoon I had another practice ride of Nina and we had a barbecue with some friends at Alex’s house before going to watch the Australia vs. Germany World Cup game, which if you are one to be concerned about results and such things made for a very bad day.
So, having told everyone we were leaving early this morning, typically we didn’t make it out the driveway until three PM because we slept in until twelve and then Felix found one more thing he wanted to check and adjust before we set off. But now after a pretty short, pleasant and uneventful ride we have made it back to Kieselbronn. As we pulled into the driveway Harald, Ute, Philip, Herbert, Connie and Hardy threw up their hands and cheered, a royal welcome.
