We slept in till mid-day yesterday, fully just slept in, totally passed out. We were talking to family on Skype into the wee hours. We built a tunnel to our igloo to try to keep it warmer inside incase we decide to sleep in it. I can't believe how seriously we are taking this igloo thing. We’re always talking about it and planning and discussing how the weather must be affecting it. We are so serious even though it was raining we worked on it for an hour in the rain. Haha, dedication. The tunnel is really cool, I want to make it much longer, it’s maybe a metre long now, I want to make it quite a few metres long. I also want to build more rooms with tunnels connecting them all from the main one. Unfortunately the snow is melting, there was a bit more but it’s still too powdery. All the awesome building snow is gone, anyway.

At about seven in the evening Alex came to pick us up to take us to a bar where we were meeting Daniel, Tanja and many other friends. The bar was called Zoigl and was more like someone’s house then a typical bar. It’s run by an ex-banker who is a massive rough looking guy, you never had to ask for another beer, as soon as he noticed your glass was empty he would present you with another. The beer was 6.8% so it didn't take many to be very drunk. Soon we were all discussing the things you do when very drunk and having a great old time, about fifteen or twenty of us swashed round the table.

Sometime after eleven many of us caught a maxi cab over to Melodrom. Of course now the Friday night movie had finished and it was fully into nightclub mode. As far as I could tell in my state everyone was very drunk. Several times while we were there heavy metal songs came on and a mosh-pit thing formed where everyone was shoving each other and getting flung around. Felix had given me his glasses to look after while we were still at Zoigl and a while after we got to Melodrom he checked to see if I still had them and I didn’t. he found them on the floor completely crushed. Both the lenses had been stood on and were deeply scratched and the frames were broken. Even though Felix assured me that he wasn’t upset with me I still feel so bad. I don’t know why he gave then to me when I didn’t have a safe place to keep them. Anyway what can you do?

So we danced and jumped around for ages, I still had a few hours left in me when we left. Tanja lives only a few minutes walk from Melodrom so we were staying there. Felix and I have slept on her fold-out sofa many times in the week and a half we have been here. On the way home we went past a bakery and I think Tanja knew then so she went in and got us something that was very buttery and salty, it was so good. This time I do remember coming inside but as soon as I lay on the couch I was out like a light.

No need to worry, after losing my glasses on the reef sailing With Mark in '06 and needing binoculars to see more than a couple of hundred metres, and then breaking my next pair in Barcelona in '07, I have now brought THREE pairs of glasses with me to Europe... So, one down two to go!
