Where I stayed
Incheon Harbor Hotel
The bus was so funny. The seats were bright purple with a gold pattern, the curtain were bright purple, and there were even bright purple cloth decorations with gold tassels hanging from the baggage racks
We got to our hotel and checked in. we were told it was a five star hotel, I almost can’t really accept this was true. How is it that when we bought the cheapest flights we end up living it up in luxury? So we had a wonderful night in a beautiful room with buffet dinner and breakfast, a huge window with the moon rising over the city and colourful streets below, a massive shower without water restrictions, Korean ‘video hits’ on a glossy massive TV (very funny)… it was great, and definitely five star!!
Before we left for the airport again in the morning we went for a quick walk round the block in the chilly -4°c. It is such a different city to Melbourne. There are so many little things that make it overall look so much more delicate and detailed, for example the drains rather then just being straight are beautiful patterns. We walked past an anchor factory, something you don’t see every day.
Our flight to Germany went much quicker then to Korea, we had our own little entertainment system, and flying over China (the Gobi Desert), Russia (Siberia and The Ural Mountains) was so amazing. The mountains were perfectly covered with smooth white snow and then it just stopped on the flat ground, and seeing sand dunes with snow is an amazing sight.
