Where I stayed
The hostel we stayed in was designed specifically for those travelling on īMagicī`and was right beside the Lake with stunning views and with every dorm room having sliding patio doors facing onto the Lake itself. The rooms were small but with only 4 to a room it was lovely to just sit outside with a beer looking down at the Lake. Henry however worried as it was 26th March the following day (an important day as Iīm sure you are all aware) and had not had the chance as yet to get anything for Flisī birthday, nor did he have any ideas..
First thing then was to take a walk back into town and see what he could pick up, this proved to be totally useless as the most exciting thing the very limited amount of shops had to offer was either a big woolly jumper from the 80s or a possum fur belly button warmer?!? The plan to buy something here was quickly dismissed and an icecream was purchased for the walk back down the Lake to the hostel.
The incredibly stupid idea then made itself apparent that it would be a good idea to go swimming in Lake Tekapo(around 8 degrees C) - in other words bloody freezing! A short walk back to the hostel to don our swimmers and we were off to test the water. Henry braved it first and after coming out not long after going in, Flis ventured in as she would have hated to have been out done. A few clicks of the camera for photographic evidence and we were both standing back on land trying to warm up asap!
The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent having a few beers and a couple of glasses of wine gazing out at the scenery, watching a movie, and after dinner doing a little star spotting before crashing out after another non stop day.
