Having endured another long overnight bus journey we arrived in Nha Trang with high hopes of some better weather and for there to be considerably less flooding than in Hoi An. Well it's fair to say there was less flooding but the weather was significantly worse as the rain arrived as we did, and stayed until just before we left. Just so you get the full picture of what we mean, rain in Vietnam during the rainy season is not like English showers or even English downpours, in fact all I can try and compare it too is a power shower which you are constantly under as soon as you walk outside. Anyway we arrived in Nha Trang about 7am and proceeded to find a hostel/guesthouse without all the touts who bombarded us as we got off the bus.

We finally came across one of the places recommended in our travel guide and found a cheap enough room there which had the added benefit of a TV which was a real blessing we found out later when we realised that, because of the weather, there really wasnt going to be a lot to do. Nha Trang is right on the east coast of Vietnam and where we had been hoping for a few nice beach days. Instead we found ourselves in cafes most of the day eating/drinking/reading etc (not really all that bad but just not we had hoped). That said we did go the beach every day even if it was just to see how big the waves were coming in and as we had heard a typhoon was going to hit Nha Trang within the next 2 days this became somewhat exciting and the thing to check out wherever we were going.

Not much else can be said about our experiences in Nha Trang other than we more than made use of the movie channels in our room and also managed to borrow a DVD player for 24 hours so we watched a few of the films we had picked up in Hoi An. most of our evenings were fairly relaxed apart from our last night.... by this point both of us were starting to get bored of the restful few days we'd had and having found a few nice bars over the previous few days this became our last evenings entertainment. The rain had just about come to an end and this made us far more willing to hop between a few bars and this of course made us willing to hop to another one or two. by the end of the night, a few gin n tonics, rum n cokes and the odd beer and jam jar (cocktail in a jam jar) we wondered home and ended up sitting under a piece of tarpaulin (a makeshift bar/shop on the road) with a local couple of similar age and an expat munching our way through a packet of ritz biscuits. the perfect end to a good night we thought....until we had to be up at 6.45am to get the bus at 7.30am.....
