Was supposed to be a 13day trip, but we kind packed lotsa stuff into shorter days.
Nimrod left us yesterday for Kangding-Chengdu, and though he was always so quiet, i must say i do miss his deadpan jokes.
Ah, but that's the way it is about travelling like this.
Don't build bonds, don't develop emotional ties.
And... don't say too many don'ts.
On the way back, we stopped by Maduo, where we met the Tibetans in prayer last week
This time, they welcomed us into their homes for yak milk tea, watermelon and fried dough sticks.
It was really touching and their generosity and hospitality meant a lot to us.
This is indeed a highlight of my trip...
Right now I'm waiting for my laundry to be done now, and it's fuggin' freeeezing.
It's raining, and again, i'm wearing shorts.
why does it always rain in Xining when i'm inappropriately dressed?
anyway... so here's the big news:
I'm gonna skip the Tibet "Autonomous" Region (i.e.: Lhasa and beyond, westwards), because i've been quoted an insane 5,800yuan.
and... the bigger news:
i'll be heading to Mongolia.
Will need to sort out some details first, but i really hope it happens.
The biggest problem of course, is money la.
I'm trying to be hopeful for now.
Will call Thai Airways to hopefully shift my dept city to Beijing, get Leo's in Beijing to find me some trans-Siberian railway tickets.
Wish me luck.... For once in my life, i'm gonna just do something with wild abandon (almost).
