I was supposed to go to Mackay (1 hour south of Airlie) on Sunday with my girlfriends to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland in 3D.
For one reason or another it did not happen so I decided to head off to discover Cedercreek Falls and a beach or two.

Some local info:

"Located 19 kilometres from Proserpine on Conway Beach Road is the picturesque Cedar Creek Falls. These falls are spectacular in the wet season and offer a year-round natural swimming pool at the base of the falls. They are set in a natural rock amphitheature. The flora and fauna will amaze you, particularly the strangler figs, red and white cedars and wild orchids. There are also bush walks up and around the falls. Majestic Alexandra palms line the creek as it continues its journey to the ocean"

As we come to the end of the wet season, I figured the Falls would look great.  I was right and I got some nice photos.

I went on to check out Conway Beach and found the tide was out...W A Y out!  This made for a great walk and I enjoyed it thoroughly.  I really enjoyed the small phenomenon where when you look to the horizon, the Islands can look like they are 'floating'.  I had heard of this but it was the first time I actually have witnessed it.  I think I managed to capture the image well in a photo,  I let you decide.

Well with my morning exploration over I was looking forward to seeing my mates Rissi & Pete out at their home in Riordanvale.  I had never been out to their property, nor had I seen their horses, so I was looking forward to this immensely.  Another bonus was that they just had a pool put in at Christmas and it would be great to cool off in the evening and have a Guinness.

Pete and Rissi's  friend Alison, dropped by and I watched her and Rissi bring the horses in from the paddock for feeding and a rest.  I did not really help out but it was great to get close to these beautiful creatures...oh and the horses were beautiful as well LOL!

We went down to another field across the road to bring up Pete's horse 'Owen', .  It was so funny to travel down there because Rissi uses an old golf cart/buggy to drive around the property, and once Owen was reigned up, I got to pull him along side as we drove back.

With the horses all settled in the stables, Alison, Rissi and myself went and cooled off in the pool and caught up on the craic.

It was a great way to end what had turned out to be a really fun day for me.
THANKS RISSI & PETE :)

Im off to visit Michael and Leeanne in Townsville this weekend but will continue local exploring the following weekend.  I will be driving out to (weather permitting) Dingo Beach and Hideaway Bay.

Bye for now xox Karen
