Here we are in Virginia and my last state to ride in, can't believe it is about to come to a end...just 11 more days..

Left out this morning around 7:30am feeling really good because we got to start with a nice down hill, it was even cool going down.....then came the up hills and boy were they brutal, windy and long, they go for ever....around every corner you think okay now here comes the down, not so just kept going up......

This only lasted for about 8 miles and then it was just a nice ride for another 20 miles, well then that didn't last long enough and boy more climbing..It was really tough doing the 68 miles today. Very tired and will be in bed early for sure.

My first stop for the day was in Davenport at the G&J Grocery Donna was behind the counter and a very sweet gal. I complimented the community on the great job they are doing for those less fortunate, with a food bank that people can go to once a week.....As I was walking and eating my banana Donald approached me and wanted to know how far I had been and where I was headed....So I told him my story, he said his son is a mountain biker....He also said he has relatives in Williamsburg, VA and just came back last week and to tell his family the Deskins Hi if I run into any of them....

Then I stopped to get ice and poweraide and meet Becky at the Sunoco gas/mart.....She didn't charge me for the ice and was very nice. I had half of my sandwich and went on my way. I stopped again at about 51 miles ate the other half of sandwich and was by now pretty exhausted. I texted MaryJane to start forward to pick me up when I'm this tired it scares me to keep riding....Well the next big climb I did walk some of it.....and pedaled.....the down was pretty scareing as it was 20mph for vehicles winding road for 4 miles....not a great down because of the hairpin turns.....

I stopped at the Library in Hayters Gap for the restroom and to get some water.....I was met by Patricia Ann the Librarian. Very nice gal and let me get some water for my camelback, rest a bit and as I was getting up I saw the Van go by OH NO.....no cell service so couldn't call to have them come back. Also Jennifer was at the library with her 3 children and they were on the computers. It was a beautiful library and Patricia said that she loves her job so much she couldn't wait to get to work yesterday.

So now I knew that MaryJane was getting my Van back to me at the motel by 3pm and i wasn't going to be able to catch up with it....So back on the bike and after the rest feeling a little better than before. I stopped at this one driveway as a older guy was about to pull out and asked him if he was headed to Abingdon and he said no and by now I had service so I texted again to MaryJane and she was at the motel and heading back....I was so thankful for her even though it only saved me about 4 miles, but I was tired and it didn't matter.......
