Today after the rain storm last night we were lucky to have a cool morning. We never found Dorothy & Toto in Kansas and we are now in the new state of Missouri. The first half of the day we had nice rolling hills and it was fairly easy. We stopped for lunch in Golden City and went to Cooky's Cafe and it was very busy. Almost a full house with families, probably just coming from church being that it was a Sunday.... The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating for us. We were able to split a full dinner Ramona and I splitting and Jane & MaryJane.....It was just perfect because we had decided to have some of their homemade pie and since we had a full kitchen for the evening we bought a whole pie and she let us have 6 different choices and pieces.....We shared 2 pieces and took the other 4 pieces with us.....A few people came us to ask where we were biking to and when we told them they were quite shocked. The one family guy couldn't believe that I had biked from Astoria, OR and he saluted us as he went out....

We then got back on the bikes and found out what the afternoon would bring our way and boy did we find out. The humidity sent with about 85 degrees and we found that Missouri has steep grades on their hills.....So around 5pm we were still pedaling and I found a shady tree and decided to call the motel to let him know we were still on our way....Dale asked if I knew it was 8 miles from town and I said no and that I would check with the other gals and get back to him.....He also said it was near a Lake( I actually thought he said on the Lake. So Jane and MaryJane rode up as I was calling and I asked them what they wanted to do , there was 1 other motel in town but they never answered the phone, so we decided to go with the Southwinds and we rode a little further and MaryJane and I decided we had enough and got in the Van. I did 58 miles in the heat and hills and said enough for today. Since Jane loves the extra miles rode out the extra miles to the motel.....We stopped in town at the Summer Market and picked up the rest of our dinner, ice cream being one on our list to go with our pie...

Well we got out to the motel about 6:30pm and found our room was very spacious, clean, full kitchen, table for 6 people, sofa, 2 full size beds and small bath.....We also found that the Lake he talked about was about a mile away.....but not to worry we were all so tired it was dinner and to bed, in fact we had dinner in our PJ's since it was so late. I choose to make the dinner as appreciation to gals for coming and driving for me.....Jane helped chop the veggies, MaryJane did some other prep work with the salad, Ramona set the table and cut Broccoli, it was a fun evening and they said the dinner was good....I think it was lights out around 10pm....
