Where I stayed
Had a nice rest last night and ready to go this morning with shorter miles of 58......We got a early start to try not have so much wind....well that plan lasted for awhile then we got the side and head winds, to be expected in this part of the country from what I'm told.
The scenery is not much to talk about since there are very few towns and a lot of open territory with lots of cattle feeding storage places. We had never ever seen so many cattle in one place before. Larry said they were not called cows they are cattle and there life expectancy is short so people can have meat on there tables at dinner.
We had 37 miles done by 11:30am had lunch in the Van at the small town of Hasty. It really has been nice to have the Van for such days when there aren't any places to eat....Thank you Stacy Willoughby for asking me back in March if I had found my motor home yet and that was what led to me purchasing the Van from a neighbor of hers. Then it was onward to Lamar......this was a change in our original route. We got in just before 2pm....another nice room for the night by Jane using her points for a free night.
Our friends from Odyssey Kristal Kraft and Larry McGee were coming to see us before we left Colorado and said they would be here around 4:30pm.....They drove from LoneTree, CO 213 miles to come see us and take us to dinner, the dinner we did not expect, but Larry wouldn't hear of it any other way.....We went to Thai Spicy Basil it was really good food and we had a nice chat and then off they went back home......Thanks to you both for taking the time driving to see us and for the lovely dinner.
Then we got back to our room and through in a load of laundry since it is free at this Holiday Inn.....man free breakfast, laundry and free room, it doesn't get to much better than this.
Tomorrow we are onto Syracuse, KS, another state behind me and 5 more states ahead of me....We are doing a video tonight of my first 50 days review....
