We had our breakfast with our stay at the Days Inn and then were off after making changes to which road to take. We in the first 5 miles we did our only climb for the day and it was only about 350' so not hard. Not as hard as what is coming ahead of us for sure.

We found the Rio Grande Western Rail Trail and it was paved which we weren't sure of and we were excited to see the paved path. We stopped and talked to Rosemary Wiley who told us that she had a part in getting the last part in Roy done with making many phone calls....we thanked her and pedal forward for miles and miles. Bill couldn't be close to us at all so he went to meet us at the end of the trail, Legacy Parkway Trail.

After about 20 miles or so still on the trail we met up with 7 woman sitting with bikes chatting and having a snack, so we stopped and chatted awhile and found out that the trail went all the way into Salt Lake City, WOW we were loving today except for our favorite wind still coming straight at us for most of it. The ladies were so cute one 84 yrs, 80yrs. and probably all at least 65 yrs and up except for the granddaughter of one of the ladies. See does this not prove that biking keeps you young....They said they go a few times a week about 20 miles a trip, the 80yr. old said they also snowshoe, hike, and other activities together. It just confirmed to me I will maybe do something different when I turn 80yrs. young. So to all of you reading this pick yourself up and keep moving to stay a live.

So we kept on the trail which did change names a few times and we stopped to ask a guy & gal which were just coming off the trail and we were wanting to know should we turn onto the road or take the trail. The guy said to stay on the trail and we would come out on North Temple the street where our motel was on.....The gal said this was her first bike ride of 12 miles and couldn't imagine going cross country on a bike, she was already feeling sore. I said not to give up that she had to stay with it for it to become easier. We got back on the trail and again came across a area of which way asked some bums sitting on the side of this small bridge and they directed us straight to the end of the trail and to Temple, where there was road construction. The city is adding onto there existing rail system through the city. So we got directions from a construction worker finally that knew the area, even told us it was near the homemade ice cream place, yummy I was thinking. We had gotten a call from Bill several times to be sure we were okay, he was at the motel waiting for us.

Yep there he was as we pulled in on our bikes. So we got settled in our room and saw a mexican restaurant Red Iguania and headed over. My friend Bonnie had called to say that they just got into there Sam's Club parking lot. They are heading back to WA after 6 months in AZ and wanted to visit. So after we got fed, showered we headed over to visit. Bonnie and I go back to the 70's we worked at QFC together for years.....We visited for a few hours and when I got back was too tired to write my blog so sorry Bonnie for not having it ready for your reading this am.......but I sure did enjoy seeing you and Don.....you both look great. Safe travels back to WA. my friend.

All in all it was a great day especially with all the trails 37 miles we figured, and I want to say at least every 5th home along the trail was planting a garden.....it was beautiful.
