Today was the second rest day of this trip. The weather was sunny and hot. I met my friends Laura, Izas and Kevin from Bilbao.
The day started by passing the river using the Puente Coglante. This "bridge" is a kind of horizontal telepheric (as you can see in the picture) and was built in 1893! It can take up to 8 cars at cars at a time and as far as I saw, many people use it.
On the other side of the river I cycled along the river until Bilbao. Once there I visited a little bit the center by bike and went to the tourism office to find a youth hostel for staying for the night. I didn't want to stay in Santiago's hostel because usually they close at 22h and I wanted to see the parties of Bilbao.
Once in the youth hostel, I stayed there updating this blog since I didn't have Internet time enough to do it since Ribadeo.
At 15h I went to Abando's train station to meet Laura and Izas and had lunch with them. Then Kevin came to meet us and we took the tram to go to Guggenheim and all this part near the river. Outside the temperature was already almost 40ºC a nice weather to go to the beach. We went inside the museum but didn't enter to see the expositions. Instead we visited outside and went to another museum for 1 hour.
Then, after drinking something refreshing and walk in a nice garden, we went in Kevin's car to the beach. Although it was 20h, the weather was still warm enough to go to the water (the water is warmer than in Lisbon). We stayed there until sunset.
Coming back to Bilbao, we passed by the rich zone. This place is to Bilbao like Cascais to Lisbon. It's near the river and sea and have very big and expensive houses.
When we came back to Bilbao, Laura left us because she had to take a train to her place (she is living 40 km from Bilbao). After coming back to the hostel for leaving my backpack and watch a nice fireworks from the hill where the hostel is located, I went with Kevin and Izas to have diner. A friend of Izas also joined us. It was lat but we found a place where to eat something. Then we went to see one of the concerts that were taking place in Bilbao.
At 1h I left them and went to sleep. The next day I would have to come back to my bike.
I have to thank a lot Laura, Izas and Kevin for showing me Bilbao! It was a fantastic day!

Beijocas
