It has to be said I love Hong Kong, I would have no problem living and working there for a year or 5 so if anyone has a job starting sometime in the middle of next year let me know! Where China seems to rile me Hong Kong soothes me, it's hard to pin point why, as on the surface they should be similar, but maybe it is because Hong Kong is not trying to be something it is not. POST EDIT from Emma – I think it is because China is a stinking hole and Hong Kong is not!
We had a great week made possible by the generosity of many friends – Wai for lending us the flat in the first place; Yin for all her help and taking us for a great dim sum meal; Rochelle and Ollie for the drinks they bought us; Chrissy for taking some of our excess stuff back to the UK and my mum for sending me a life time supply of Berocca! (3 tubes would have done, but we are grateful for the 3 boxes of tubes!) A big PHAT thank you to all of you.
We spent our time in HK seeing friends, visiting Repulse Bay where I used to live 20 years ago, mooching around the stalls in Stanley after taking the crazy double decker bus around the coast road. We swam off Lamma after walking across the island in midday heat and ate fresh seafood there. (Wan Kee is unfortunately no longer there, so we had to eat in another restaurant with a much less entertaining name). Shopped in 100s of electronic shops in Mongkok – bought another camera! Took the star ferry and drank in Central and Wan Chai. It was the surf and turf of city breaks with a side order of extra fries. POST EDIT from Emma – That last sentence is Wan Kee!
