Driving into Ottawa, after Montreal and Quebec, the city seemed a bit drab and worn out. The Parliament Building was still quite nice and we stayed to watch the Changing of the Guards but there's only so much one can take! We needed to find entertainment, quick!

Then I remembered that The Beer Store was selling Caffrey's online, back when I was looking to order it for Steve's birthday. We didn't realize how run-of-the-mill the store was until I asked a guy walking down the street if he knew where I could find one and actually pointed us in the right direction. Later I found they are a dime a dozen, like the LCBO. What a man's shop! You walk in and it smells like a frat house. There's not much in the shop except 3 boards with lists of domestic, imports and recommended/bargain beers. There's two lines: one to order and pay, the other to return bottles/can to put money towards more drinks. The fridge is located in the back, you tell 'em why you want, they get it, you pay, and that's it! Unfortunately, they stopped selling Caffery's! UgH! We did end up finding it in a random bar in Little Italy, called Pub Italia. Great selection of beers!! If in Ottawa, Pub Italia is a must...

Then, just when I was about to give up on Ottawa, it redeems itself with their Byward Market. If ya haven't caught on by now, I love to eat and I love markets! Le Moulin de Provence Bakery is divine! Fresh back breads, desserts and prepared foods make this place a true gem. YUM!

In the evening we headed to the Casino du Lac-Leamy for their end of the season fireworks finale. It blew our DC 4th of July fireworks out of the water! The air was just right for the night canvas, the lights in the sky were massive explosions and they went off!!
