Boston didn't welcome us with open arms. It was more like a beat down. We spent half a morning driving around, wasting gas, looking for parking. It was pathetic. We had an easier time in DC and NYC then we did in Boston. Every street, even miles out, had parking permit only signs up! We felt defeated. So much so that we had even canceled dinner plans with our very 1st live in puppy sitter and friend, Lisa, because we couldn't find any loop holes.

On the way out of the city, we stopped by a grocery store to stock up. Still feeling a bit jaded, we drove out of the lot and then noticed a train coming through with a nearby lot. Having high hopes, we drove around the block a few times and found a place that allowed overnight parking and learned that the Wonderland station was only a few stops into the city...and allowed dogs on the trains! Perfect!! We called Lisa back up and met up with her for dinner in Little Italy. On our way home that evening, we popped into Mike's Pastry for a cannoli and Boston Creme Pie.

The last time we were in Boston was a short visit as we had flown out to photograph the marathon. we did a short road trip then too so we didn't do too much of the tourist sites in Boston. To make up for lost time, we got up, took the short ride into the city with Rusty (he did great on his first train ride), and hit the ground running by doing the self guided Freedom Trail Walk. You see all the historic sites that way and stop where you want. We had a picnic in the Boston Commons area, followed the double red bricks/lines around the city, into the Haymarket, and had time to sit down for drinks and more clam chowder at the Times. On our way back from the station, we walked by the Wonderland Beach. We can not be defeated!
