After having a few cooler nights, we moved back inland to visit the Triangle of NC. First stop was Raleigh, which has quite a few good, free, museums. We visited the Capitol, the Raleigh City Museum, the NC Museum of History and NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The crappy thing is we had to take turns going in the museums because we had Rusty with us. That took up a lot of time and we ended up running out of time. We didn't get to see the NC Museum of Art!

Then we went over to Chapel Hill to see the Tar Heels campus. My favorite part of the visit was the Mediterranean Deli. If I went to school there I'd spend all my money and time eating there and drinking fragrant teas! CH also has a Planetarium where I tasted my first ever freeze dried ice cream. I've had opportunities before but thought it was a waste of money. Since Steve bought some for himself, I had to give it a go! Surprisingly accurate in flavor, minus the temperature.

Our last stop was in Durham. We toured the Tobacco Museum and learned a bit of history on the Duke family before heading to the Duke campus. What a beautiful campus, right up there with the Ivy Leagues. The architecture had a regal air about it and the Chapel is a true gem. What an aesthetically pleasing environment to learn.

Last stop was Bennett's Place, which was the site of the largest surrender of Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. We watched a video at the Visitor's Center and popped off a few snapshots out of the farm. (We are incredibly lazy and rarely bring along the good cameras...our point and shoot is so much lighter...which I'm sure you can tell from the quality of our images!) Then we headed back to Big B for a drive to the Outer Banks.
