We dropped my mom off at the airport so she could make her long journey back to Hiroshima (ABQ-DEN-SFO-NRT-HND-HIJ)! Usually I like to be the one leaving and hate being left. This time it wasn't so bad because we had things to keep us busy! We went back into the city to visit the Art & History Museum.
We saved the more bizarre part of New Mexico for ourselves...next stop, Roswell. With a quick photo op at the Visitor's Center (w/ Rusty and mock aliens hanging their heads in shame), we were more then happy to hear that most of the museums in this far out town were free! The one we actually paid to see was awful!!! The UFO Museum needs help. They are planning on building a new one so hopefully it won't be just a bunch of newspaper clippings?!
Figuring we had a better chance of finding extraterrestrial signs of life on our own, we parked Big B in the middle of a field, grabbed some blankets and made our way to the roof of our RV. We waited, watched and even went down to photograph mysterious lights in the sky (it was us, putting on a light show). Nothing. Although, the stars are pretty amazing on their own (including the satellites).
The next day proved to be a more crazy day! The sky turned brown. DUST STORM! We tried limiting our outdoor activities as we were crunching dirt in our mouths and tearing up. We found some refuge in the museums and the only wine/beer tasting in town...Pecos. The events that occurred next have been sealed in secret files...
