Steve and I were born 10 days apart, making me the "older woman." ha!  One year we'll have to throw a joint birthday bash.  Instead of going all out this year, we celebrated more intimately.

For my birthday, we went out to dinner in Clarke Quay, at IndoChine's Forbidden City restaurant. We've been meaning to go there since we moved here but being in the city of food and shopping, we've been pre-occupied.  I love the Teracotta Warrior statues as you walk in; it reminds us of our time in Xian.  The food was great, especially the dumplings!  Some were too cute that we felt bad eating them.  Then we ended the night with a trishaw ride back to our apartment.

On Steve's birthday, his parents arrived in the wee hrs of the morning.  Unfortunately, Steve had to work but that gave his parents a chance to rest up after the long haul from the west coast of the US...and a major delay at one of the airports.  When Steve got home, we went for drinks at the New China bar (to show his parents views of the city from the 71st floor) and dinner at our old, favorite Indian hawker stand.  Then we saw Avatar in 3D...the whole 3D movie for a birthday is becoming an every other year tradition!

I've been taking the parents around town while Steve's at work and then we do dinner outings and such all together in the evenings/weekends.  The parents have gone to Har Paw Villa, taken the Singapore boat taxis, gone to the museums/temples, tried the sandwich ice cream from the street vendors (one of them tried to convince the parents to try the one that "smells like shit, tastes like heaven" = durian...ha!...which is all he had...thought it best to try that later on in the trip...break 'em in we found another vendor), tried all sorts of food, visited the Battle Box, biked East Coast Park, etc (and they just got here!). Since we knew we were not going to spend Christmas in Singapore, we did the hop on/hop off, free, tourist bus ride along Orchard Road to see the decorations and lights, too! The theme this year, which changes every year, was "All Decked Out."

Oh, nice family Christmas vacation and birthdays! Omedetoo.
The pictures make me miss our days in SE Asia!!!

I feel a little nervous about meeting Jeremy's parents for the first time; I hope we can spend nice time like you did with Steve's parents. One month to go.
