HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE…….

The Easter Bunny found us in Longreach! Kids head over for pancakes and Easter egg hunt while Bill and I pack the van, we don't get away until about 9. We travel back on the same road to Barcaldine, this road has the most road-kill we’ve seen in all our travels. I’m driving and have to cross on to the other side of the road many times to avoid hitting huge kangaroos in the middle of the road, the road along here at night must be awful to drive on, kind of a place kangaroos come to play chicken over the road. We make it to Barcaldine in just on an hour and stop to fix the mirrors, they have been very helpful to me to see the ground next to us. We resist the urge to stop in at the caravan park and see Ian, Margie, Darren and Melissa for fear we won’t want to leave, we do of course toot the whole way past.

Quick stop in Blackall for fuel, then stop in Tambo for lunch, really not coping with the Pajero kids don’t fit in the back well and no access to the back while we’re driving as there is a complete rollcage with a cargo barrier and tailgate can’t open when we’re hitched on. We have to keep reminding ourselves how lucky we are to be on the road and to suck it up. On the road again lots and lots of road-works on the drive through to Charleville, we’re staying at Baileys Bar a gorgeous little park recommended by Ian and Margie, by the way Wendy and Julian say Hi to you guys.

We get talking, I know shock-horror, to a couple heading up to Karumba for a few months as they do every year, you meet so many people travelling for so many different reasons criss-crossing the country it’s fascinating to hear their stories.

Julian brings over a little friend he’s been caring for, Jilly-roo a baby wallaby, he is a local carer for all sorts of injured animals.

We relax for the evening on the beautiful lawn BBQ for dinner and hit the hay ready for what tomorrow will bring.

Mobile Mackay’s-not in the phone sense!

(I still have no mobile reception I’m not being rude if you’ve tried to contact me-Lucy)

Melissa & Darrin on

Looks like a lovely park! Darrin saw you on your way back past again. He was like awwwww, there goes Bill & Lucy in his lil boy lost sooky way ha ha. I consoled him and reminded him that if you had stopped in to say hello you mightn't want to resume your trip. Glad to hear the easter bunny found you all. We had an easter egg hunt for the boys in the back garden which was a lot of fun. I may have had more fun than they did while I was hiding them :) Happy and safe travels you mad Mackay mob xx
