Left Mt Isa on our way to
Normanton. Bill starts us off on to our first stop Cloncurry through a Mountain Range quite an awful road, then I take over from Cloncurry to the Burke & Wills Roadhouse an easy 155km cruise nice road. Then poor Bill's turn an average road with mostly one skinny strip of tarmac meaning we hit the dirt every time a car comes. We suffer a huge stone which provides a huge dent in our windscreen!! Oh well we arrive safe & sound in sunny
Normanton around 2ish unhook the van & head out to
Karumba about 70km from Normanton. We arrive to a rundown daggy fishing town with only factories, hmm must be more than this so we find a road to Karumba Point, this is a bit more like what we thought unfortunately you can’t even get onto the beach the steps have been closed off with "Danger Croc" signs! Well at least we still get the view, and what a view! (Hopefully the photos will do justice)
Back into
Normanton a quick look around the Train station (the one place I remember quite clearly from our family trip here 30 years ago!!)
