We arrived in Katherine for the night staying at "Shady Lane" far enough out of town to avoid any trouble as it is well known for our plan is to do the gorge in the morning before heading to Daly Waters Pub (Oh discovered the outside light cover had smashed off. Thankful that was our only casualty from the corrugated road)
Mad Mackay Mob with the outside light off!
Left 9ish this morning as heading to see more Rock Art on the way out of Kakadu we'd been told it was much better than Ubirr & we weren’t disappointed, much clearer drawings with another fantastic lookout with different views altogether from yesterday. Quick visit to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Then the plan was to go to Gunlom Falls (UDP Mum & Dad!) we stopped at the turnoff to tape up the vents & broken window as it was a red dirt road the only problem was the corrugation was so bad, about 3 inches deep we made it about 400mtr & promptly turned around!! Very disappointed but after we spoke to a bloke at the roadhouse at Mary River he said his mate got in 4km & turned around, so it didn’t get any better. We were surprised it was open as Jim Jim & Twin Falls rd was closed & its in the same area.
