Well after a very wet early start, 5.13am to be exact we headed off on our "journey". Our plan was to stay in Horsham the 1st night however after a quick breakfast stop at macca's on the ring road and a flying visit to Nanny Olwyn & Pa Brian in Gordon (Ballarat) we arrived in Horsham at about 111am! After a quick game of tiggy in the park, re-fuel the car & loo stop we decided to push on. We crossed the border into Sth Aust at exactly 1pm Liam was fast asleep although he didn't miss much in fact if you blinked you would have missed it, we stopped just past Bordertown in a roadside stop for lunch & cuppa in the van and hit the road again to see how far we could get. Kids did some homework sheets & watched some DVD's & started to get a bit niggly at about 3pm so we looked ahead on the map & planned to get to Murray Bridge. Another re-fuel in Tailem Bend & we arrived at the caravan park just after 4. Thankfully we had some pasta sauce Bill put some pasta on in the camp kitchen (I'm going away more often if he continues cooking!) we had an early dinner oh & a nice bottle of chilled Moscato (medicinal for sleep) & now we are all tucked up in our home away from home ready for our first night......Good night everyone! Heading for a scenic drive through Hanhndorf tomorrow then heading to "Clare" for the night then onto Port Augusta (thats the vague plan anyway!!) Mayhem with the Mackay Mob!

Enjoy Guys. I've been to Clare - it's very pretty, and there is lots of nice wine there too! From memory there is a nice caravan park near a lake, just watch out for the mad swans.

A great start! Hope you enjoy the Adelaide Hills and the weather is accomodating. Funny you mention Tailem Bend. Someone told me it is the suicide capital of the world per head of population. Did you notice anything about the surrounds that would make it so? Hope the journey is without incident and you all get a great deal out of spending the time together.

I know I am day late...but what is new!!! Daryl's mum and sisters lived in Tailem Bend, and for YEARS that is where we went for most of our holidays. I think you might agree with me, that it is a good town to 'pass through'!!!! Enjoy your travels...and I LOVE your blog!!! XXXX
