Show trip route
That night we went to Khantoke Dinner at the Chiang Mai Cultural Centre. It includes lots of different servings of food and a full show of traditional Thai dances. It was a good night but the dancing got a bit boring. I feel bad to say that, being their traditional dances but theres only so much you can watch girls walk around in a circle waving their arms around
The next day we had the most full on day and the kids said again, this was the best day of their holidays.
We went to the monkey show, which was so cute, and the King Cobra show, the kids got to hold snakes and wear them as hats and belts. We visited a local village and met Big Ears and Long Neck Tribes. I think I might just be a descendent of the Long neck tribe. I tried on their collar and it fits perfect
We went to Tiger Kingdom and played with the cubs and the Large Lions. The kids were only allowed to play with the cubs and had to wait outside the enclosure watching while Aaron and I had our time with the Big Cats. They were complaining and asking why can't we come in too but they soon felt safer as the Big Tiger saw them approaching the Cage and lunged towards them. All 3 of them jumped back a metre in fright, Very funny. Aaron loved the Tigers, he just kept saying WOW. I was a bit too scared to enjoy it as much but still fun! Outside the tiger kingdom was a lake full of huge fish. You'll have to watch the video to see how ridiculous they were, jumping over the top of each other to catch the food. The kids called it Fish Frenzy.
So that was our full on day.
The next day we did a elephant tour through a beautiful rainforest area. There was also the most gorgeous Elephant show. About 12 Elephants did a dance shaking their heads and big floppy ears, 2 Elephants also painted pictures quite precisely. You could feed the Elephants for as long as you liked and the little baby would wrap his trunk around your arm. It was a very sweet morning.
We also had a river raft and Ox-Cart ride in the Elephant camp
In Chiang Mai we stayed at 2 wonderful Resorts. The first one was your typical lovely resort like a novotel but a bit more boutique style, being low season we had the place to ourselves. Very lucky! One night the receptionist took us down the road on a gulf buggy to an area where there were heaps of fireflies. Very special! The 2nd resort was amazing!!!! Just soooo lucky it was low season and half the price as its usually very expensive. I tossed up doing a whole page to blog on this resort as it was so special and I took so many photos. Every little detail is perfect, every tile, every tap, love it all. I know all of you who love your style will love this place, Butterfly Chiang Mai!
We were very lucky in Thailand to go in Low season so places we wouldn't consider staying were easily in our budget. Stayed at 4 amazing resorts in Thailand for under $100 a night.
On the last night we went to the Sunday night markets. Fantastic Huge Markets with lots of unique things we'd never seen before. A lady was selling little birds in a Bamboo cage to release for good luck so all 3 kids opened a cage, such a little thing but something we don't get to do in Australia.
