Brno is the second largest city in Cz Rep. but not many people go there. I thought it'd be fun to see, and although it lacked some of the drama and charm of, say, Prague, it did have its appeal. The highlights for me were the Castle prison, which was a horrid place to be in the 1600's. Franz Joseph finally closed it in the 1850s. But the wax figures really dramatized the conditions in the dank basement prison. Of course they had a torture room.
The other thing I found interesting was the crypt of St Somebody's monastery where all the bodies of the dead monks got preserved because the air of the crypt was just right, so you saw these incredible mummies, only they weren't wrapped in bandages. Just like we saw in Guanajuato, where again the soil conditions preserved the corpses.
Here are some photos, then I'll get on to Budapest.
