From the park we went on to Smallwood's Store - a nearly 100 year old store that is now a museum. It was pretty cool, but we got there just 5 minutes before it closed. The lady was nice and let us browse while she closed the store/museum.

Smallwood's Store was originally built on the ground, but after 8 years, was raised as you see here. From the Smallwood Store's website: Settlement brought a need for goods and mail and that need was met by the Smallwood Store. Established in 1906, this Trading Post served a remote area, buying hides, furs and farm produce and providing the goods required. Ted Smallwood's store was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It remained open and active until 1982. The store was originally on an island accessible only by boat, but a causeway was built to the island that connects it to the mainland.

We spent the night in Venice, on the gulf side near Bradenton. Had a great dinner at Sonny's BBQ, a regional chain restaurant.
