In Colorado Springs, we have been busy seeing all the sights. There is so much to do and see here - we have been pleasantly surprised. The Fagans achieved a major license plate milestone - one Alaska and two Hawaii in one day, and we set an altitude record, driving up to Pike's Peak (14,110 feet above sea level).

Current stats:
  • 47 license plates found, and still seeking Mississippi, New Hampshire, DC, and Rhode Island
Lessons learned:
  • Like just about every other activity, Lucas takes his mini golf very seriously.
  • We learned on the mountain that you don't need to be able to outrun a grizzly bear, as long as you can outrun someone else in your group
  • Parenting guidelines from toddler years still apply - keep your children well fed and well rested for best results
  • The natural playground at The Garden of the Gods Park is better than any man-made one
  • Although it is counterintuitive, it is much scarier driving up Pikes Peak than coming back down
  • 14,000 feet above sea level is plenty high to induce altitude sickness
  • We were surprised to learn that Colorado Springs is the second largest city in Colorado...until we spent a few days driving around this sprawling place
  • While Colorado has unbelievable natural beauty, many of these places were snatched by profiteers looking to make a buck... actually many bucks
