After our trip around Flores we were quite happy to be back in Labuan Bajo and relax for a couple of days. We had a lovely room with a nice view and we splurged in the most fancy restaurant in town. We both had an awesome pizza which was a welcoming change from all the Nasi & Mee Goreng.

We decided to take a boat tour back from Flores to Lombok. We couldn't face the public bus through Sumbawa again. At the same time we would meet some people on the boat and we would stop at some islands for snorkeling and swimming as well as see the Komodo dragons on Rinca island. The boat company we went with is called Perama and they are probably the most reliable and respected tour operators in Indonesia. It was a 2 day/2 night journey. We slept on the deck as it was a bit cheaper and it turned out to be much better than sleeping in the cabin. They were really hot and noisy from the big diesel engine. We were an interesting group of all ages and from all different places in the world. The Komodo dragons on Rinca island were fascinating. They are huge weighing up to 100kg. You don't want to get too close to them because if they do bite you, you could be in quite a bit of trouble. They have 60 different types of bacteria in their mouth and you could end up with a life threatening septicemia. Apparently a Swiss tourist got bitten years ago and died. The islands we visited for snorkeling were uninhabited and truly beautiful.

On our last day we spent some time on a small lush island called Moyo island. There was a fresh water pool and a waterfall. The brave ones could play Tarzan and swing with a rope to jump off into the water. I was too much of a chicken but Dave did it. We got back to Sengigi in Lombok late in the evening. The boat trip was not cheap. It cost us just over 200 euro for the 2 of us, all meals were included. But it was really worth it and we would definitely recommend them. It really was interesting, we have travelled by all kind of transports on our way to Flores and back. The local busses give you the real experience but are very tiresome. The minibuses and cars are a much faster option and mostly used by locals as well. Our organized boat tour was a great way of seeing things and relaxing at the same time. It was quite good not having to think too much but just lean back and go with it.

We are back in Bali Kuta now. You will be hearing from us soon.
