Marriage:
Myself and Angie got married twice! Well not really, we got legally married in the Wellington registry office on Bolcott St. It was a small affair and our friends Holger, Alex, Grant, Gill, Gabby and Edwin were there as witnesses. We had an awesome party that night in Watusi (now defunct).
3 weeks later we had a marriage ceremony in Thailand with our familes and friends. It was really great, no stress and so good to spend some time with our families.
We made our rings during a 6 week jewellery course at Vilders on Aro St. That was such a cool thing to do, I highly recommend it.
Permanent Residency:
Only last week we became permanent residents of NZ. We were residents for 2 years and now we can return to NZ any time we like. Yay!
Brewhaha:
My band has started to go places. Gill became our drummer after our vietnamese drummer quit. We have a collection of songs that we have written and we have had 2 live gigs. We played at Happy and in Bodega (Burgundy room). We rehearse every Wed in a studio in Petone although last week we rehearsed at Medusa. It was cool to rehearse on a proper stage at a real live venue with awesome sound system. We are planning another live gig in March. Checkout the brewhaha.bandcamp.com.
Road Biking:
We both got into road biking and have entered a number of events. Angie has completed Taupo twice and me once. I had a blow-out slash shredded tyre half-way through the first time. We have also completed the Grape Ride, K150 and a race in Martinborough. We are a bit lazy when it comes to training. I am focusing more on MTB again. Too much latte drinking and lycra for me : )
The Fraggles:
The Fraggles is our mixed soccer team. We play in a grade 4 social league every Thu evening in Shed 1. We were crap but have been improving. Currently third in our group with only 2 games left to play. I think it has been the Fraggles greatest season : )
Fronde:
I am still working away at Fronde. I got promoted to technical team lead about 18 months ago. I still like working there and have started to be come a force to be reckoned with on the table tennis table.
Angie's change to Theater:
Angie made the move from ward nurse to theatre nurse about 18 months ago. This is a completely different job for her. She now only works week days and we have every weekend free. I love hearing various technical details about the different surgeries she has worked on. Also it has been a good insight into the doctor, nurse / hospital relationship. Angie likes it there but says it can be very bitchy.
So where too now. Well the reason I am updating this blog again is that we are gearing up to leave NZ and hit the road. We have a one-way ticket booked to Singapore on May 5th. We have loads of things to organize between now and then. I plan on more regular entries on the run up and preparation of our big trip. More details soon.
