It is nice to be back in Thailand after Myanmar. We flew from Yangon to Bangkok and then got a domestic flight up to Chiang Mai, only takes an hour. Chiang Mai is a good place to chill out for a few days. It is very touristy but not in your face like some places in southern Thailand. There is a decent night life here as well, lots of bars. If you are a single man and just want to get a drink you will not be left alone. Many of the bars have loads of young thai girls (not all of them girls) looking for farang. Often you see aul fellas in these bars with thai girls. This is particularly noticable in Chiang Mai.

So what did we do in Chiang Mai, well we stayed in Banana GH which sounds good in LP but it was a bit crap but cheap. We wanted to stay in Julies but it is always full, instead we sometimes would hang out there. Good place to meet people. There are alot of different markets here; night bazaar, saturday market etc. I am tired off these markets but Angie can't get enough of them : ). We didn't bother with any treks but we did do a cookery course and that was excellent. We cooked about 5 dishes and I was fairly stuffed by the end of it. We had a good group and you learn alot of common sense tips and tricks when cooking thai food. It is not so difficult, but will we be able to reproduce it at home?

Also, we changed our flight Singapore - Auckland from 2nd Sep to 7th Oct. We realised that we would not have enough time for everything and need another 5 weeks.
