Where I stayed
Phang Nga Guesthouse
Phang Nga is one long strip of a town. Not a lot to do here but take a boat trip through the mangroves to James Bond island and to the Muslim fishing village. We stayed one night here as there was not enough people for the tour and so we went on the morning tour instead, deciding to catch the bus to Surat Thani that afternoon. In the meantime we hung around Phang Nga and went to see the Tiger Cave and something called heaven and hell which is this really strange exhibit in the woods where you can walk down the throat of dragon and see statues of all these non-believers getting slaughter in brutal and sometimes amusing ways by savages. That was quite interesting, you will have to see the pics when I put them up to see what I am talking about. The cave itself is not very interesting as is the case with most caves in my experience.
The next morning we did the boat trip, it was nice and the Muslim village was interesting aside from all the crap they try and sell you. James bond island I didn't really recognise. It's been ages since I seen Goldfinger. Even on this little island there loads of stalls with junk for sale. The trip itself was not bad for 500B, just something to do really.
Phang Nga is not really worth the overnight if you can do the boat trip the same day you arrive and head on after. Again, the people are friendly here and there were almost no farang while we were here.
