Introduction

Cordoba is one of the bigger cities in Argentina and we just stopped here really to have a break in between the ride from Salta to Mendoza, otherwise it would have been a 21 hour journey....not so much fun!!

We spent a day walking around the city and eating more delicious foods and we also took a bus ride and went for a day out in the neighboring city Alta Gracia where Che grew up.

Highlights

La Casa de Che

We thought we would visit this museum as we have seen the famous Che face stenciled all over the world, but didn't really know much about him. Time for a bit of an education!

He was born in the 20's and studied medicine at Uni. While in his 20's he did a lot of travel through South America and noticed the inequalities from place to place. This disturbed him so much, that he gave up on the idea of a career in medicine and decided to fight for equality.

First he joined a group that went on to overturn the Cuban government and then became the president of the Cuban National Bank. Years later he got involved with African politics helping the guerrilla forces there. After that he then went to Bolivia to fight for their cause there, where he was eventually killed and buried in a mass grave.

His body was then recovered and it now in Cuba in a mausoleum, however his childhood house is in Argentina open to the public.

He is the face all over the world for revolution, rebellion and socialism... and we really have seen it spray painted on buildings in almost every country. Finally we have learned what it was all about !
