Introduction

Koh Phangan is a small island with a laid back atmosphere close to Koh Samui. It's most famous for being a party island and home to the world famous full moon party. We spent most of our time here drinking up buckets of vodka and going to all the parties :-) No sightseeing for this place!

Highlights

Beach party

We caught a taxi, rammed with people to a beach resort about 40 mins away to go to a drum and bass beach party. The way there was hilly and you had to hold on! There were 3 separate stages there, the main one being right on the beach. We had a great night seeing an old favourite DJ, Micky Finn from the UK.

Jungle Party

We shared yet another overcrowded bus to a party in the middle of the jungle. We got dropped off on the road outside and walked up the long dark path to the main area. It was a pretty good set up, all lit up in the middle of the Jungle there were lots of luminous stalls there with people ready to paint you up with glow paint. It was pretty busy, but we didn’t stay all night as we were saving ourselves for the main night the next night!

Full Moon Party

This was on Haad Rin sunrise beach and the beach was lined with many many stalls all selling buckets to drink. Each main bar on the beach had different types of music playing. There were fire shows going on at various spots around the beach too. This party fills up to 30,000 people! Was an excellent night – we made it until about 5am & then we lost each other so met back at the room – oops!

Thai Dee Garden Resort  - We stayed in a lovely self contained bungalow at the very top of the hill overlooking sunset beach. You have to book for a 5 night minimum over the full moon party period and it’s a little more expensive than usual at $40 a night. This was a great spot, quiet, but within walking distance to the beach.
