Where I stayed
We arrived at the Red Apple Campground and found it to be one of the nicest ones yet. The owners were very friendly and gave us several good ideas on what to do in the area & where to eat. On the 20th we set out to explore the town. We drove by President Bush's place & stopped to take pictures. Just as we were pulling out, a fishing boat appeared & then a couple of other boats showed up. Looked like Bush was going fishing & the other boats were probably his secret service escorts. Guess he can't go anyplace without them! Then we checked out the beach. We went into Kennebunkport & had lunch. The girls wanted to shop the shops, so we sent the guys off to an auto museum in a neighboring town. That evening we had fresh cooked lobster delivered to our campsite. We ordered them at the office in the morning. The owner said they were about $5 to $6 a piece. Couldn't pass that deal up!
The 21st we took off for Ogunquit and a mile walk above the rocky side of the beach. At the end of the mile, we caught a trolley back thru town to where our cars were parked. Had lunch at a restaurant right there & then went to the nearby town of York to see the Nubble Lighthouse. Of course Shirley York had to stop by a gift shop & buy all the York sweatshirts & t-shirts in the place! Just kidding, but she was in there a very long time........Our next stop is Foxboro, MA.
