For the last 3 days we spent around Battambang's surrounding villages taking photos of the local's. For the last 3 weeks we have been on the lookout for traditional monks, and would go to great legnths to get to know them and take photos of them. (provided they were happy for us to) I thought by now we would have been "monked out" (had enough) but it seems that however many photos you take of monks the urge is still there to grab a camera and get that photo when the opportunity arises.
From Battambang we spent 13 hours travelling to the border of Thailand and then onto Bangkok. We caught a taxi to the border of Poipet. Its a dusty town that has sprung up because of the Thais crossing overland to Cambodia. (and vice versa)
The town attracted loads of beggars, and homeless.
As we were getting getting our backpacks out of the taxi, a street kid (local beggar) reached into the car and stole the drivers mobile phone that was on the dashboard. (the driver told us that it cost him $600 to buy) Although the boy was caught half hanging out the car, the phone wasn't found on him (he may have passed it to a friend that was standing nearby, that disserpeared in the crowds) The driver called over the police that took the boy away. (but strangely in the opposite direction of the police station??)
This is one place we had to be extra cautious with our belongings.
In the evening we arrived in Bangkok.
The City of Bangkok is a place i love and hate at the same time.
Rooms are cheap, and you can get anything you want (and more) in Bangkok than you can from any other City in the developed world. But the traffic if really bad, and pollution is so high that walking along the streets you can taste the toxic fumes hanging in the air.
This is the part of the trip where me and my Gary go our seperate ways. Gary is meeting Mandy on 17th Nov to fly onto Phuket for a 2 week 'beach holiday' staying in a swanky hotel, and I will travel "solo" towards Koh Samui, to recharge my batteries for the next part of my travels.

Confusious says "Man who walk through airport escalator sideways, going to Bangkok"
