Leonard, our local taxi driver in Katima Mulilo met us in the morning to take us to the Zambian border. He said he could take us a little further to the first town Sesheke for a little extra money.

We arrived in the down-trodden Sesheke aiming to get a bus to Livingstone. We arrived just after 11am and there was a bus sitting there. After talking to the driver who said he was heading to Livingstone we got excited about our timing when he said he was not leaving for another 6 hours.

We were beginning to negotiate an exorbitant rate with some Zambian taxi drivers when we notice another dilapidated bus. We went over and it was heading to Livingstone in an hour. The bus was half full so we could put our massive backpacks on the bus. A 12.30pm departure we estimated to be in Livingstone at 3pm. How wrong we were!

The bus on leaving stopped every 100m or so to pick up another local or 2. Soon our backpacks had to be put into the trailer. Soon we had to stop again as the whole trailer had to be re-arranged to accommodate 4 pigs and a dozen chickens. We made a few more stops and then seemed to be making good headway when we got a flat tyre. Fortunately this didn't take too long to change.

We finally arrived in Livingstone at 5.30pm. The 170-odd kilometres had taken 5 hours. The driver dropped us off at a makeshift taxi rank where we had to wait for the taxi to be finished being washed.

We arrived into the fully booked Jolly Boys Backpackers. Luckily we could camp in the camping area. We set up and enjoyed dinner and a few beers at the bar.
