The day started with a long climb of around 2000ft but the gradient wasn't too steep and with good shade cover it was almost enjoyable and then on reaching the summit we had a long and gentle down hill beating the car to morning drinks again in Sugar Grove.

The remaining 30 miles went very quickly and the day turned out to be a very good days' cycling.

That evening in Wytheville we decided to go out to dinner as a change from our standard rations of milky soup but first we had to wait for Tom who had not yet recovered to return from hospital. It turned out to be a 5 hour stint in the hospital courtesy of the nurse who seemed intent on redecorating her room with Tom's blood.

Eventually a pale Tom and Mother Olly returned to find four desperately hungry individuals staring out of the window longing for their return.

So at 10pm we headed off to Pizza Hut.
