We are happy to be done leaving... packing, loose-ends behind us...we enjoyed our first day on the road and feel like we have finally left. It was surprisingly a day of delightful family harmony... we said goodbye to Sparky, hopped on a train to CT, and spend the 3 hr trip "homeschooling." See photos of the boys reading about explorers and the girls reading about the pilgrims coming over on the Mayflower. Attached are videos/photos of "sweet moments" from our first real day on the road:
deep thoughts for the day:
The Call of Beauty "Every life is braided with luminous moments...As the soul can render the face luminous so too can love turn up the hidden light within a person's life. Love changes the way we see ourselves and others. We feel beautiful when we are loved, and to evoke an awareness of beauty in another is to give them a precious gift they will never lose. When we say from our heart to someone: 'You are beautiful'... when we affirm another's beauty, we affirm something that cannot be owned or drawn into the grid of smallmindedness or emotional need. There is a profound nobility in beauty that can elevate a life, bring it into harmony with the artistry of its eternal source and destination. Perhaps Beauty does not linger because she wishes to whet our appetite and refine our longing so that we enter more fully into our inner inheritance." from The Invisible Embrace: Beauty...Rediscovering the True Sources of Compassion, Serenity, and Hope.

Congratulations!
It's so awesome you're on your way...brings back great memories--especially the homeschooling part. I hope every day is as peaceful as this one.

Leaving Needham
Looks as though the fam is doing well. Will Ross pass his econ test Friday? lol
Road songs? You need road songs and a banjo player.
You and the kids seem excited. Enjoyed family values. The big push now is 'empathy'. Was in NY Times couple days back.

Hello!
Does Ross have his BlackBerry?
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Hello Jones Family
Hey there. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. I love it!! Speaking of economics, have your heard of Jessica Jackley? Check out her website at http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=home -- she started an organization that finds investors for third world individuals seeking small loans for small, start up businesses. Very cool. You can invest $25 in someone's goat herd or craft business and see how the business develops and helps struggling families.
Blessings on your Holy Week on the road!
We miss you
We love your pictures. School is going awesome. We made our settings mural. It is not the same without you. It looks like you have BIG bags!
Love,
Your first grade friends
hello from nama & poppy's
we hope you arrived to the DR safe & sound. we are arrived to n & p's last night and immediately started terrorizing there house. they started in on the little trap door, trying to break down the barricade that poppy created. we are going to play some frisbee golf, then go out for a bike ride. nama has a whole list of fun activities for us to do. mostly, the kids love the quality time from nama & poppy & more people who unconditionally love them. we miss you lots and will enjoy hearing about your trip! let us know if any thing comes up for us to meet up with you anywhere. love, julie
Re: hello from nama & poppy's
hi family! i wish we could be 2 places at once. i am still LOL from our facebook conversation. Nama you are our role model in setting priorities as a mother! we are all having a good time. the kids are sad to leave the resort tomorrow. erik won a ping pong tournament and was awarded a big trophy and was so into it as you can probably imagine. just did a homeschool session with them which was quite mediocre... there is a reason why we send them to school! i do think they absorb more than it seems at the moment. off to the pool... how is everything there? give lots of gory and sweet details! xo emily

Since when does the teacher have to take the test? We didn't expand the empathy much at the beach resort here, but are off to Santo Domingo and then to an orphanage; we shall see. - RMJ
Good Question Kurt
Believe it or not, I left the bb behind and unplugged from the office. Pretty incredible and still settling into the reality of it (woke up dealing with some petty work thing this morning, so still detoxing). - RMJ
